I feel like I should open this review like what you see at an AA meeting. “Hi, my name is Brittney and I am addicted to Craig Schaefer novels.”

So, now that I’ve got that out of the way and finished all the Harmony Black books that are currently available I decided to go back to where it all began, the Daniel Faust series. And boy oh boy was I in for a treat.

N.E.W.T.’s Readathon Wrap Up

Throughout the month of August I was participating in the N.E.W.T.’s Readathon hosted by BookTube channel Book Roast. This was a very fun readathon based off of the N.E.W.T. exams from Harry Potter. Which classes you participated in and did prompts for were based off of which O.W.L. classes you completed in a readathon held earlier this year.

Ladies and gentlemen, let us talk about The Book of Hidden Things by Francesco Dimitri. I’ve sat on this review for a while. I wasn’t sure how I felt right after finishing this novel. The characters were unlikeable, I was angry with some of their actions and decisions, and there was at once not enough and too much magic. Yet I found the story still in my head, leaving me thinking about it days and then weeks later. It is this, I think, that hallmarks a good story, and maybe more importantly than that, a story that makes you think and question even if you’re not positive what it is you should really be questioning.

I haven’t read a book I had this much fun with in a long while. River of Teeth by Sarah Gailey is simply pure fun, filled with wonderfully memorable characters, and lots of hippos. It’s the sort of book you can get lost in, the one you can’t wait to finish but don’t want to end.

What does this mean? Pure, damn chaos.

High stakes, tons of action, and a very memorable cast of characters make this one of the most enjoyable reads of the summer. I loved this book, and already I’m looking forward to the second book in this wonderful new series.
