Well, let’s just say, I’m a series junkie. When I picked up book #1, A Merciful Death I knew it was a bad idea. I knew I couldn’t afford another obsession. Did that stop me? Nope. After finishing the first book in the series I bought the rest of the available books and binged them from the end of 2018 into 2019. The day a new book was available in the summer of 2019 I waited until midnight when my preordered Kindle version would be available and I began reading immediately.

A truly fantastic manga, Beastars, Vol. 2 by Paru Itagaki centers on Legoshi, a wolf, attending high school with both predators and prey. Tensions are high between the two groups; peace is something that could be broken at any moment despite many rules and regulations being in place. If you haven’t read the first volume yet, or are interested in my thoughts on it, please check out my review of Beastars, Vol. 1.

Josie, you should have known you weren’t the only one with crazy secrets to hide. Although, I agree, I would have never thought Gretchen’s secret was this insane. I just thought Gretchen was one of those private, quiet characters. I’m sure most readers thought the same.

Okay I’m back and so is Josie Quinn. And frankly, I’m sure at this point Josie Quinn wouldn’t like me either.

Still, she remains a bad ass detective determined to doing the right thing like saving people, helping them get justice and ending corruption in her town. Is she still a catty woman, unable to let go of the past and someone that drinks way too much? Yes. Do I still dislike that about her? You bet.

Determined, angry, and searching for her identity in the remnants of the world, Orpen takes Maeve to Ireland on a journey to find a rumored city and the banshees—the all-women fighting force that’s fought the skrake for generations.
