Black Clover Vol 1Lately I’ve been trying to read all of the manga that have been sitting on my shelves unread for months (or longer). Shonen Jump titles come first as it doesn’t make sense to only be reading half a magazine every Monday. So, today we’re taking a look at Black Clover Volume 1 by Yuki Tabata.
I made it! I completed the OWLs Reading Challenge!
Honestly, I wasn’t sure I was going to complete the five categories needed to ace my OWLs. I didn’t read quite as much this month as I did through January, February, and March, and I finished the last two books on the very last day of the challenge. This was tons of fun, though. I loved the premise of the challenge. I really had to search through my shelves for books that would fulfill some of the categories. While I didn’t read something for all of the categories, I did have books lined up for almost all of them and do still plan on reading them at some point in the near future.

Only HumanThere have been few series in recent memory for which I am this excited for when a new volume is released. But a series about giant robots? Yeah, that’s definitely one of them. The Themis Files wraps up with the soon to be released Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel, a story about giant robots and aliens, but also of family, love, and human nature.
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for OtakuSometimes you come across a manga that just speaks to you. This is true with Watokoi, a manga that has more than a couple of scenes that seem as if they were pulled straight out of my own life. Watokoi: Love is Hard for Otaku by Fujita is an extremely relevant slice of life manga about two otaku who start dating, and a must read for anyone is or has been in a relationship with another otaku.
It took longer than I expected, but I’ve filled in all of the challenges I’ve completed so far this year. While this wasn’t difficult, it was a little time consuming. Several of the manga I’ve read could potentially fill more than one challenge, but I wanted to limit it to one right now. For completions sake I might use one manga for multiple categories, but I wanted to see what I managed without relying on grouping challenges together first.
Tomorrow's KinThere is nothing quite as satisfying as finally finishing a book you’ve had your eye on at the library. It’s an almost mystical experience – on one hand you know that book will always be there, until, that is, the exact moment you go to check it out at the front desk and it’s inevitably been borrowed by someone else only a few short days ago. And so begins my tale of reading Tomorrow’s Kin by Nancy Kress, the first book in the Yesterday’s Kin Trilogy.
Goldfisch Vol. 2The second volume of Golfisch is being released tomorrow, April 24, 2018 by TokyoPop. After reading Volume 1 a few months ago, I was extremely excited to dig into the next volume. Goldfisch Vol 2 by Nana Yaa is just as fun as the first volume, and a great read for fans of shonen.
One WayMurder mysteries set in space is quickly becoming a subgenre I never knew I needed in my life. After reading Gunpowder Moon by David Pedriera, I knew I needed to read One Way. One Way by S. J. Morden, a fast paced near future science fiction murder mystery story.
Void Black ShadowAfter reading Killing Gravity I immediately sought out the next book in the series. Void Black Shadow by Corey J. White is the second book in the Voidwitch Saga, and a great second installment to the series.
Cutie Honey a Go Go!I was intrigued when I saw another Cutie Honey manga was going to be released. Honestly, I’m always intrigued when another edition of an older franchise has been released. So I got my hands on a copy as soon as I could to see what the latest incarnation of Cutie Honey was all about. Cutie Honey a Go Go! is a new standalone manga in the Cutie Honey franchise by Go Nagai, Itou Shinpei, and Anno Hideaki.
